Reset...starting over

So last year I lost about 58 lbs in about 8 mos. Then I slowly have gained back most that I lost and I'm disgusted!!!! I decided just to start fresh as day 1 hoping that will somehow reset my mindset. I have never quit exercising which is still a big deal for me. But I've been in denial about my eating. Exercising just isn't enough for me. And I have to count every thing I put in my mouth or I talk myself into "that it's ok" or "just this once won't hurt". Why is eating such an emotional problem for me? And why do I push to lose weight and then let myself gain again?! It's so frustrating. But I know giving up isn't going to happen or an answer!! All I can do is do my best today, tomorrow, and the next. I've got to get myself together. Stress can no longer be my excuse!!! This fat has got to go! I have some muscles underneath that are dying to shine through!!!

You can do this! But can I make a suggestion? This time, really think about your maintenance strategy. What changes will you need to make to ensure that the weight you lose doesn't return? Are you willing to make those changes permanently? Give your maintenance strategy as much thought and planning as your weight lost strategy. It is every bit as important!

Seeing posts like yours strikes fear into the heart of us all - none of us want to re-gain the weight. :noway:
I read on your profile you talk about "diets" - no, not a "diet" because you go "on" and "off" a "diet".
Think about this as a lifelong change in the way you eat and exercise - make small changes and stick with them - be honest with your diary and yourself. This is for life in all the different contexts - for what you will gain, for your new lifelong way of thinking and relating to food and exercise.
You have lost weight before, you CAN do it again. Read the success stories, see what those winners have in common - and apply it to yourself :flowerforyou:0 -
I'd also suggest not comparing your weight loss journey this time to your journey last time. That is, maybe it will take you longer to lose the weight this time...but that's okay if you're doing it in a way that is sustainable in the long term. I've had to come to terms with this myself. In the past, I've lost weight over a shorter time period, but it didn't stick. I need to do this in a way that allows me to change my eating and exercise habits to something that I can do on a day-to-day basis for the long haul.0
