First Vacation, Then Surgery

Hi All,

In two weeks, my two sisters and our husbands are going to an all-inclusive in the tropics. We'll be gone for a week. Three days after we return, I will undergo major surgery on my leg and will not be able to work out for 4-6 weeks. So I'm expecting to gain back some of the weight I've taken off (MFP shows nine lbs. but it's actually 25 - my diary is open) and muscle I've toned.

If I weren't going into surgery, whatever I gain on vacation I know I could lose in a few weeks. But my biggest worry is being sedentary during the recovery. I expect to be bedridden for the first week or two. My husband, the dear that he is, will be my caregiver. He's not nutritionally savvy, although I'm trying to educate him. This to say I don't expect my meals to be as nutritious as I am eating now.

I'll search the web for nutritious, quick meals he can make, so I'm not as concerned about that. BUT, I'm looking for some type of activity I can do to rev up my HR while recovering. It will have to be confined to upper body, though. Any ideas? And, of course, I will follow my doctor's advice.

Thanks,

Google "exercises to do while bedridden". Several sites popped up and some videos on youtube.
