Hi everyone! I'm new to MFP and thought I would introduce myself...my name is Tisha. I'm 30 years old and 5'5 and 248 lbs. My goal weight is 150 lbs. I just moved from Ohio to Florida with my 3 children to start a new life. I have always been the "big girl" but dreamed of being slim and fit. I decided that I was going to join the gym around the corner from where I live. I drove around the block a few times before I had enough guts to go inside. I felt so silly but I was scared at the same time. I thought when I walked inside, I would find the skinniest, fittest people and I would be an outkast. I was surprised when I finally went inside and saw people of all shapes and sizes. I then realized that all those people were there for the same reason I was. I decided to get a personal trainer to help me through this difficult journey and he has really motivated me to push myself further than I thought was possible. I love excerising and the way it makes me feel! I never dreamed it would become so addictive! :)

This weight holds me back from exploring new interests. I am ready to lose it and keep it off. My life has just begun and I now feel like I am truly living!

Feel free to add me so we all can encourage one another through this wonderful, yet sometimes difficult journey! :)

  • Hey Tisha-

Welcome to MFP! I am new as well. I have only been tracking now for about a week, but I really like it and think it is really helpful too! I wish you the best of luck. I know what you mean about the gym being addictive and that there are ppl of all shapes and sizes. Just remember why you are there and that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of you, but more importantly that people have more respect for ppl who are working to make a difference than those who are sitting around complaining about it. Good luck, and keep us informed of your progress. DON'T GIVE UP. You can DO IT! :)

Hi and welcome! This is a great site and the people here are very helpful.

Sounds like you already tackled one of the steps towards health and fitness: exercise. It's great to hear you say "I love excerising and the way it makes me feel!" Exercise is the difficult part for me. I've tried all different kinds of workouts and it always seems like more of a chore than a joy, but I'm getting better at it.

A few things: Think of this as a lifestyle change as opposed to a "diet". If you miss a workout session or have a bad food day, don't worry about it, just move on and stick with it. You WILL hit plateau's where your weight doesn't seem to budge no matter how good you are being. When this happens, read the posts, it happens to all of us and there are some great tips from others. Most of all, be patient. Frustration will set in if you are in too much of a hurry to drop pounds. I know, I have been there!

Good luck and I wish you to best of success in your new lifestyle!
