"double dipping" exercise calories?

I recently synced my Map my Walk to MFP. Out of curiosity I turned on MMW when I went to the mall with my daughters & I ended up walking 4 miles. I didn't eat those calories back because I felt that going to the mall sometimes is part of being somewhat active, which is already accounted for in my profile. I wouldnt count grocery shopping as a walk, right? When is entering exercise calories from walks/steps considered "double dipping"?

I would log the walk from the mall, but not something way from grocery shopping or shopping that doesn't take very long. On days when I go out to the mall, if I find myself walking for longer than like 2 hours, I will track it at a slow pace just so I know I am not overestimating. I probably wouldn't eat back those calories though, just the ones I burn from my daily exercise.

I personally would not log it. I consider that to be part of daily activity
