Second, this topic is too controversial and will get locked. There are groups for these kinds of discussions.

Too controversial? As in someone would support the other side ?

I can't speak for the entire MFP community, but I seriously doubt that someone would be able to in any intelligent fashion be able to support the comments that were made about this kid.

I think those that tweeted should be ashamed of themselves.. period, the end.

What I'm saying is that this is a divisive topic and would probably be removed according to the site guidelines.

Hostility is sometimes apt. MFP can suck it and lock it. It will just come back up again. Things like this need to be discussed, and anyone can try to crush that, but it will just keep coming back up.

Like I said, MFP provided the groups feature for discussions of this nature.

the whole human race is a group. What group would this exactly be apt in? "People that hate racists", or "Latinos unite"?

Again, all I said is that this topic is against forum guidelines... which it is... exactly what are you railing against?

the idea that you even need to point it out. What is the worst that happens, it gets locked? Okay, so what. What is the best that happens? Some people see the information that was posted and have a tinge of empathy, an open eye to what covert racism looks like and how it doesn't help others and in fact hurts and oppresses other people. Why is that not okay? And btw, 'divisive' is a subjective term and I think the forum should decide for themselves.

So because a racist hasn't popped into this thread to defend this behavior, you're going to take your hostility out on me. Well FYI, MFP isn't a forum for you to take the opportunity to change minds and hearts, not that you could anyway. Why don't you go to Twitter and rail on the people that have actually offended you.

Or .. I can just write what I want ?

If you dont like the thread.. you dont have to read it.

This is something I felt like writing, under the "CHIT CHAT" board .. Its not intended to be heated.. but if it goes that way, so be it.

RACISM IS WRONG.. I'm obviously not alone in that thought.

So either participate in your opinion on the link or the subject in general.. or dont.

    :smokin:

i love that this thread was posted. its nice to "chit chat" about real world issues instead of having 100 "say the person above you is a 10" threads.

They didn't shame that kid one bit because he had nothing to be ashamed of. What they did was make racist, derogatory comments about him. He was obviously good enough to be singing the Anthem at that game and he should be proud of that, hold his head high and keep rockin' it out. The only ones who should feel shame are the ignorant people who said those nasty things.
