Hello from Chicago

Hello to all,
I am Chandra. I have lost 10 lbs in the last two weeks. I now have 103 lbs more to go.
I am working on eating a healthy diet (balanced nutrition) and learning to like (love) exercise (right now definitely at the hate stage).
I have chosen to count calories. This normally works pretty well for me. I guess I am bit of a numbers nerd. I chose this way because my eating habits have been so extreme and over what I need for so long. My body really has no point of reference of how many calories it needs or how to react to certain foods.
I am quite a bit lonely, on my journey right now, not many of my friends are as overweight as I am. So they really can not understand what I am going through. Plus, I am sure they are going to get tired of me talking about becoming a more healthier me.
I would love to add pals who are like me lots to lose and just needs someone to help them stay accountable and motivated. Or people who have been there and just want to encourage someone else to keep going.
Does anyone know how to get the lost counter to work? Mine still says 0 and I really need it to say 10. I just need that small validation right now to keep me going.

Well happy weight lost journeys to all.

Hey Chandra! :) I completely understand how you feel on everything that you mentioned in your post! I feel like everyone is probably tired of hearing all of the plans I make for me being a healthier me! I've been on MFP for a while and I have fallen of the wagon tons of times, not to mention all the times prior to me finding out about the app. I just turned 30 and I've been overweight since I was a kid. I don't know any other way. I'm tired of being unhealthy and unhappy! I ready for change! I think we have a lot in common! I am only 5'2" and I have about 180 pounds to lose! I'm in this for the long haul.... FOR LIFE!!! I'm hoping to reach out and meet some friends that are in the same frame of mind! Girl, you are worthy of the change and you have my support! One day at a time sweet Jesus.... one day at a time! Let's be accountability buddies and change our lives! :)

    Hi,
I have had the app on my phone for a while but never really used it. I like it thus far. It is nice you can connect with other people. I also like you can see nutrition info. I am trying to really focus on fueling my body properly. It is definitely a long road to be on. I keep reminding myself I did not put on all this weight in a day. So it will take some time to take it off. I just keep trying to put one foot in front of the other and eventually I will get there. We can definitely be accountability buddies. Lol, I feel like going in to the holiday weekend, I am already going to trip up a bit. So I am trying to be a little more strategic with the treats. Well anytime you need me I am here.
    Happy weight loss journey!

Hello and welcome! You mentioned fueling your body properly. When I worked with a trainer he gave me ideas of what to eat...lean meats-chicken turkey fish...after you work out have some protein because it will help rebuild muscles. I eat a lot of broccoli. My favorite way of eating is putting some spices on it like cumin, red pepper flakes, oregano, and baking it! it's so good! Eat almonds for a snack or if you want sweet do fruit. I love apples with crunchy peanut butter! I will probably...no wait, I will mess up this next weekend since I'll be going out of town! That's ok though because June is right around the corner and I'll be in full gear for weight loss! I wish you the best of luck on your journey Chandra. You've already lost 10 pounds! I know you can do it and reach your goals!

Good luck to you as well. I find increasing my dietary fiber normally works really well for me. I am trying also to keep my sugar consumption low. It seems like sugar and fat are hiding in everything.
