it might not be in everyone's budget, but lobster meat is incredibly low calorie and high protein. i buy those frozen 6 0z lobster meat containers (they are all claw meat because i believe they sell the tails seperately. personally, i like claw meat better) and i make lobster melts under the broiler with fat-free cheese. and double fiber bread. delicious, low calorie, high fiber, and high-protein.

Yes, lobster is good. However, there is something less expensive, more readily available and lower in calories for the same size serving--SHRIMP.
Looking at the MFP data for a 6 oz Lobster tail, vs 6 oz of Pacific Shrimp Meat-ready to eat.
Lobster Shrimp
Protein 35 gr 36 gr
Fat 3 gr 2 gr
Calories 200 160
Shrimp works great in a melt too, so if anyone is "landlocked" and doesn't want to take out a second on their house to buy lobster:noway:  you can go get some frozen ready cooked shrimp meat/AKA salad shrimp and still have a treat.0 -
I'm liking both, but where do you get the lobster claw prepac?
also, never had a melt...might give it a try, thanks0 -
yum! the melt sounds delicious! I have some medium shrimp in my freezer right now. I think I'll try it as a melt! thanks!0

well, i do live in maine, but i don't know if that has anything to do with the readily available frozen lobster meat in the supermarket. the brand name is cozy harbors. i'll try shrimp next time and see how it compares. i probably could make lobster or shrimp rolls as well, but i have avoided buying low-fat mayonnaise because part of me really just prefers to do without. on the other hand, i miss tuna and chicken salad as well.0
