Hey there MFPeeps...

So does anyone here work overnights? I have days where I get up with my daughter at 7, maybe get an hour nap in and work all night (no sleeping) until 8 the next morning... in this case, d I increase my calories? Days where I don't get the gym in, 1200 calories for 24 hours just doesn't seem enough. I am starving to the point of feeling nauseous by the time I get home from work.

Side note... What are some good low in calorie yet filling "snacks" when you are on the go?

I have been doing a flatbread with laughing cow cheese, apples, apples with almond butter (IF i have the calories), broccoli with low cal italian dressing, and light cheese sticks... but most of those aren't very "filling" or like the apple with almond butter-- very high in cals.

I work 9pm-6am. I sleep about 1-2 hours while my 2yo naps a day as well. I don't eat more because I would gain. I start my tracking from the time I wake until the time I sleep. Fresh veggies and fruit are best for me because they take a long time to chew and are pretty filling.

Eat more on the days with no sleep and a little less on days when you do get sleep so that your daily calories average out over the week.

I usually have a snack when I get up, 3ish, then eat dinner with the fam at 7. I eat a lunch around 3 am and that's all until I get up. I eat the same calories regardless of my schedule.

what time do you have your last food before the end of your night shift? It may be too long an interval. I know for myself if it is one of those nights that I do not get a break I feel absolutely queasy by morning.

a typical day where i didnt work the night before plays out like:
up with daughter, eat bfast (maybe egg whites ad veggies, cereal, or yogurt)
    small lunch around 2
if i go in at 11, i have dinner with my family around 6.
    go to the gym
snack like fruit or something on the way to work
then work 11-7:30, where i eat around 3 and a snack around 5.

Even when I eat just fruit. if i go in at 7 and can't hit the gym beforehand, i am struggling to maintain 1200 or less calories.
