Today is the day!

I woke up this morning and did what I always do. I ate a calorie loaded breakfast and parked my butt on the couch. I had no intentions of starting my diet today. When I "decide" the night before, I usually wake up and have a reason I can't start. In effort to hang out with my friends more I decided I needed to get a gym membership today.
After making the decision to get a gym membership, I came to the conclusion that if I don't handle and control my eating, I will not be able to lose weight. Since in all reality weight loss matters more about what you eat, I jumped back on the calorie band wagon after 1.5 years.
There will be a whole new me coming soon, rather one less of me! So today, I say goodbye to Mt. Dew, candy bars, chips and everything else I was eating to mask the insecurities I was facing over my size. Today I say hello to the healthy things in life and I say hello to feeling better, more energy, and looking good!
I'm excited to do this journey with all of you!!

First of all, congratulations on making that decision and coming to MFP. with the help of everyone here, you have success under your belt straightway.
If, as you say your life has been largely crashing on the sofa, then you will need to motivate yourself big style, but all the folks you meet here will help - feel free to add me as a friend if you want to. I can kick butt with the best! LOL
Start small - make small achievable changes. Don't dive in at the deep end - you'll sink. Just start making small cuts - look at that breakfast for a start, and get some suggestions from the MFP community.
there is a wealth of knowledge, help and advice here. Someone will always answer your question.
Log everything you eat truthfully and accurately - be accountable.
That's my two-cents-worth - good luck on your journey.
And remember
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. You just took it.0 -

Wow!! Thank you all for the quick replies. I can already tell I'll be able to keep motivated on here with everyone being so encouraging! I'm an all or nothing type person, so I pretty much have to dive in. I have to cut soda and I have to cut most things out. Once I allow them back in I do bad with them. I learned this last time. Eventually when I get more stabilized in this new lifestyle, I'll try adding in some things. For now, it's 1200 calories a day no cheating! I already sent texts to my friends giving them permission to grab sodas or junk foods out of my hands without saying anything and throwing them away!!
Seriously, thanks for the support so far!!0
