Hello all,
This is third time that I have tried this and, after it being recommended by my Doctor, thought I would have another try. I have never used the social side of the site though and am hoping that this will motivate me to carry on.
I am 35, have three children and am a full time school teacher. This September, my eldest daughter will be joining my secondary school and I do not want to embarrass her. She has never said anything to me about my weight but I have no doubts that other pupils will say things to her. So, this time I am determined to do this for her as well as me. I have a minimum of 6 stone to lose. So if anyone out there is just starting out and relates to my motivation, I hope we can support each other to succeed. Thanks

Fieldsey you need to get serious and focus hard.make this your thing for the next six to 12 months. Do you have support at home to give you the time for exercise and the help and support on diet? Can you call on local friends on social media network to spur you on? By letting your friends know what you are attempting you will get their support and encouragement. You also probably need to get help for the fitness side of things ie join a fitness group - not necessarily a gym but something where you can join a group of people in group exercise sessions this will help with motivation. hiit training for example is great - no need for long sessions 30-40 mins of exercise 3 - 4 times a week will literally transform your fitness and body... Just try your best in each session and it will be a slog but your fitness levels will improve faster than you think if you put the effort in and keep it regular...0

You can do this! Do this for YOU! Do it so YOU feel good, do it so you can keep up with your children and live a long life to see them grow. Be an inspiration to your children and a good healthy role model.
Start off slow! Make small changes at a time. Jumping right into to a crazy strict diet and exercise program will cause you to fail.
-Log EVERYTHING you eat and drink, and be completely honest with yourself about it.
-Get a digital food scale and use it! It will feel silly and daunting at first but it is a eye opener.
-Just start moving more. Go for walks, take the kids with you.
-Include your family in lifestyle change. Tell them your goals and ask them to help you reach them. Everyone can eat healthier and get more exercise.
You can do it! It will be slow, it will be hard work, and you will have bad days. But you get back on the horse and keep going!0 -
I agree on the scale. I used to think I could estimate portion size. HA! was I ever wrong.
Measuring cups and spoons are your friend as well.
3rd times a charm!0 -
Thank you so much for all your positive motivation- it brought a tear to my eye! I agree that weighing everything is important and I am really going to put some effort into doing that. Exercise? I must admit that is sadly lacking. I looked at joining a gym this morning but apart from this cost, I don't want to turn up looking like a sweaty beached whale whilst everyone else is svelt and toned. So I think exercising with my children is a much better idea - I need to make time to do it. Thank you again everyone.0
