Sinus Tarsi Syndrome

Anyone ever been diagnosed with this? Used to run marathons and have been reduced to basically light walking as cardio. After years of horrible pain in the ankle, knee, hip, etc on my right side, I was finally diagnosed with sinus tarsi by my podiatrist. He gave me a cortizone shot today which will hopefully help, and I've had some sessions with active release technique which seems to really help release scar tissue. Curious if anyone has had this syndrome, any feedback or things that helped you daily-anxious to get back to running!

Any guesses as to why you have it? The usual culprits are ankle injuries, and overpronation.
Have you tried taping the ankle? See "figure 3" here for how tape it:
