Personally, I use a Suunto M2 HRM watch to monitor my hear rate when I exercise. It wasn't expensive and measure my HRM accurately plus the calorie burn. I use it together with my phone when I'm running to track my route and speed (Runkeeper or Endomondo) and I'll add my average, peak HR plus burned calories manually. When I'm on a hometrainer or doing home workouts, I just add in the calories. That's what I do0

I have been on you tube and Google the past couple of days as I really wanted to invest in one my self. I think it depends on what your looking for. I got the garmin vivo yesterday which was on offer at argos for a good price, it was really easy to set up to my Ipad and also it syncs with my fitness pal which is great. I have only had it a day but so far so good ☺0
