Is it true I will lose muscle instead of fat if I don't eat enough protein?

Everyone has given great great ideas for non-meat protein. I can't say enough how much I love Greek yogurt. A while ago on another thread someone mentioned Oikos triple zero Greek yogurt. It's 15 grams of protein and 120 calories. Love the stuff!! Really! Try it! Also, don't worry about fattening cheeses. Just find a 2% cheese or something. I'm obsessed with cheese. I'll buy little individually wrapped Cracker Barrel 2% sharp cheddar cheese. They are 60 cal and 5 grams of protein. Often times I'll have two of those and a Greek yogurt for a snack. It all totals to 240 cal and 25 grams protein. Great for a snack!

I made shepherd's pie this week with green lentils and roast vegies in the stew topped with cheesy mashed potato, just over 500 calories per serve and 27 grams of protein.

Yum! That sounds terrific! I'm not a vegetarian, but I do love vegetarian meals.
