Lose weight, save your life

I just came home from breakfast to see the picture of a guy who lived in my building sitting on the security desk. It included a notice of a memorial service to be held for him next week because he died last week and there was a book to write your sentiments. I've seen him around for over nine years.
The reason? He had long term Diabetes and ignored all the directives to take his medication and change his lifestyle. He was overweight and sedentary, overindulged in alcohol and drugs and never did one thing to help himself. You can't address someone like this because they will never hear you.
He was in his mid-30s.
If there was ever motivation to save your life by changing your lifestyle, this certainly points it up. This was so pointless when the solution is live a good life.
