After 6 days being on program I've gained 1 1/2 lbs. and I don't know why. I was told to plan my meals around my calories and the rest of the macros will fall into place. Then I can adjust accordingly. I did that, drank more water than required and exercised. I make sure I meet my calories. Then go to my carbs and fats and protein. I do fine with them. Sometimes I'm under 3-5 or over the same. I am usually under my sugars Can anyone out there tell me what I a, doing wrong. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

What program? How many calories? What is your current height/weight, and what are your goals? How are you measuring your caloric intake?0

It's either water retention or you are not eating in a deficit. It's early days yet, and weight fluctuations are normal.0

Six days is not enough time to tell if you're doing something wrong, especially if you started exercising this week. Give it another 3-4 weeks, then readjust. Make sure in the meantime that you weigh and log everything accurately.0

Exactly what @laurend224 says. It's only been 6 days, be patient.0

Someone needs to create a sticky worthy thread about managing expectations. I think it would be a great thread.0

Daily fluctuations in body weight of up to 5-10 lbs. are totally normal!! Just because the scale is showing 1.5 lbs. gain doesn't mean you've actually gained weight. If you've upped exercise it could be water, normal fluctuations. Weight also doesn't come off in a linear fashion most of the time. You'll see ups and downs, and weeks with nothing, and then a big drop. As long as the long-term overall graph is slanting downwards, you're doing great. 6 days isn't enough time to judge that.0

It took me nearly four weeks of eating less than 1200 calories before I lost a pound.-2

6 days is not enough time to perform any kind of meaningful trend analysis. Body weight fluctuates with water retention/release and fluctuations in the amount of inherent waste in your system among other things. Natural fluctuations can be 1-5 Lbs day to day. This is why it is important to pick a day for weigh in and weigh in at roughly the same time and under roughly the same conditions...from there, you track the trend over a period of time...a longer period of time than a mere 6 days.0

This one is pretty excellent:

I agree @ncboiler89. Tho even if there was a stickie about managing expectations there still would be tons of posts like this. I don't think the majority of people come here even bother to read those stickies. If they did, it would answer about 90% of their questions.0

Well, you know, on television, they lose 20 lbs at a time and they do it all within one hour.0
