Hey everyone! So I have recently received the Polar M400 running watch. I am confused about a few things on this watch regarding the way it counts cals burned. I put the watch on at 7am this morning and it said that 323 cal were already burned even though it was not on me throughout the night. Currently it is 6 hours later and the cal count is at 955 cals however I have done nothing but light walking and mostly sitting all day since I commute and have a desk job. I am just confused as to if this is correct. Has anyone started the day with the watch already calculating cals burned without actually doing anything to burn them? Is the way its counting the cals correct? If anyone with this device could provide some insight that'd be much appreciated :)

I just bought myself one of these 3 days ago. I do not know how the actual calculation works but the website states this about one of their other fitness trackers, I'm guessing you have a similar issue:

I just started using my Polar Loop. How can it already show my calories?
The daily activity calories that Polar Loop shows take into account your basic metabolism and the physical settings you filled in in the Polar Flow web service. Every bodily function takes effort, so your body burns calories even if you haven't accumulated any activity during the day. The displayed amount of calories has been calculated for the day you started using Polar Loop. The activity tracking resets at 0:00/midnight.

So if you input your gender, weight, height, age, etc it uses these things in its calorie burning calculation. I am still learning myself how it all works but I hope this helps.

Do you know if the polar device can be linked to MFP? I've tried and nothing has worked.

Yes look under apps, I'm not sure if android works yet, but it works with my Ipod with out a problem. you download to polar flow, and it transfers to MFP

If you have a computer, it should transfer from there. Hopefully they will work out the android bugs soon.
