I really need to do a diet for many reasons not only to loose weight. But there's SO many diets out there it's hard to choose the right one. How do you pick a diet that will work for you and how to stick to it/shop for it? I need tips and tricks. PLEASE!!

Why do you need to pick a diet? Do you have a medical condition?
This is a calorie counting site...count calories to lose weight, because that's what works.0 -
I lave lost 46.5kg and I have never chosen a diet. I follow the numbers that MFP gives me and that's all I do along with a little exercise. No need to jump on any bandwagons!0

If you want restricted food choices, I would recommend veganism. Not for weight loss, just because it's more ethical and better for the environment. To lose weight you just need to burn more calories than you consume.0

I lost all my weight and have maintained for 2.5 years by not following I diet. I log all my food, stay at my calorie level and enjoy my life eating food I like. My "diet" includes eating a wide variety of nutritious food, working in treats for my emotional health, and never, ever eating anything I don't like. It doesn't have to be complicated.

You can still be vegan, and not in a deficit.0 -

*looks for anything about ethics in the OP's post* ... Can't seem to find any mention of it. Odd.
Seriously though, that's a choice only the OP can make based on her own beliefs, not something you randomly trot out there because you feel it's superior. There's a veganism thread going right now that I think you should take a peek at...
OP, like others have said count calories. Use a scale to properly measure non-liquid foods. Exercise.0 -

You don't have to be on a specific diet. You can start off eating the things you normally do but stay within your calorie goal, and as you learn what foods/beverages are or aren't worth the calories (did you have a 20 oz soda but wound up starving when your calories ran out? Then maybe you give up/cut back soda and replace it with food), you can start cutting back on those. It's all you.0

Eat at a caloric deficit and you'll lose weight. Lose the word diet from your vocabulary.0

Nearly any diet will work, if you follow it. But really, there's no reason to do anything but make sure you eat fewer calories than you burn. Figure out how many calories you want to allocate to each meal and then plan meals that fit those calories. It really is that easy.0

Eat plenty of green & red veggies, fruit
Plus some whole grains, fish, meat, etc.
Move
Most importantly - create a deficit.
That's about it!

I am going to offer an opinion and ramble off a few thoughts. All diets will work if they create a calorie deficit. My opinion is to make a small change in your current eating pattern. You evidently eat foods you enjoy and there is no reason to not still continue to enjoy those foods. So you could do simple changes over time like baked instead of fried, diet soda instead of regular, more single ingredient and whole foods over processed, one less candy bar a day, etc... which will help create the calorie deficit you need. And you don't have to implement all of these changes at once and or do something completely foreign immediately. I think making one small change and seeing how that works for you for several weeks, then making another small change if need be and again, doing that for a few weeks, establishes better eating patterns for life. I would also educate yourself on understanding the calorie content of your food to see where you stand. Again, it boils down to calories, and understanding the caloric content of food as well as food portions for said calories, will assist you in making smarter choices in your diet and reaching your goals, long term.0

Sorry, but there are no tips and tricks. The only thing that matter is eating fewer calories than you burn. MFP can help you with that, by giving you tools to help you track those things. But if you are looking for a magic diet, there is no such thing.0 -

This. There's no need to pick a diet. Just eat less and move more . Eat at a deficit and you'll lose weight. It's as simple as that.0 -
Calorie deficit is the absolutely only thing that causes you to lose weight. How you arrive at that calorie deficit may differ from person to person, and depends largely on your preferences unless you have a medical condition.
Some people find the deficit easier to maintain if they cut out certain foods, but this can set you up for challenges later on when you introduce those foods again. Whether it be meat, processed foods, sugar, starches, whatever...unless you plan to cut them out for life, you might as well learn to deal with them now.
The most successful people just carefully monitor their calorie intake and make sure they eat less than they burn. Some things that can help are to lift heavy weights and eat adequate protein and fiber.0 -
You don't even need to "eat clean" which has a vague meaning. Sure, I do try to pack the maximum nutrition into my calories, but today, for example, I had a Klondike bar and a mojito. In the whole scheme of things, I can do that once in a while and still stay on track. My reason today is that I teach 7th grade and it's the last week of school.0

Simple.
1) I only eat foods I like.
2) I eat fewer calories than I burn. CI < CO.
