Advice and encouraging words needed...

Hey all,
I'm sure most of you have expirenced this, and I am tying to stop it before I let it happen again! I am slowly getting discouraged and backing off of my diet and exercise plan!!
I have been on and off with weight loss for my whole life, and everytime I jump on this wagon, somehow, someway, I let myself jump off. I can see myself doing it again, and I REALLY don't want to. I really want to keep up what I have been doing.
I jumped on the wagon this time around April 3, 2015 starting with cutting out 5-6 Mountain Dew's a day and adding some Zumba every evening. This quickly progressed to changing my diet/counting calories/ and doing the Insanity workout every other day, and going to the gym on my lunch hour every day.
I have only lost 9 pounds!! I am extreemly frustrated, some weeks I have even gained a pound or 3. I just feel like I should be losing more.. I've been sticking to 1200-1300 calories! But, in the last 2 weeks, I have slowed off on logging my calories AND I did not work out at ALL yesterday. I literally called into work and layed on the couch all day. I want to shake this bad habit of givin up SO BADLY, but I don't know how to convice myself.
Im just hoping you all can encourage me and support me through this! I know many people like me who have been heavy our whole lives have struggled with the on again off again relationship with weight loss!! I don't want to be this person anymore.
Please help,
Sincerely,
Kimber

YOU CAN DO IT! did that help? ;)

9 pounds in a month? Congratulations, that's a great loss and yes I'm serious. Most people should aim around 1-1.5 pounds per week. Much more than that, for an extended time, can cause you to lose muscle.

I suspect that 1200 calories is too low or too aggressive of a weight loss plan. Take a look at the goal that you set in MFP and if you think that it is too restrictive, then reevaluate. We aren't in a marathon so take it slow and build up new routines and habits now. Congrats your losing your 9 pounds, now get back up on the wagon :)

It took me three months to lose nine pounds. All you have to do is stick with it, no matter what. As you begin to feel the weight you're losing, that's all you need for inspiration. Just stay on course. Go for lots of long and short walks. Drink lots and lots of water. You'll get there and be very proud of yourself.

If you have been drinking that much Mt Dew, your body is used to a pretty high, steady intake of caffeine. Quitting the all-day caffeine habit is tricky, and it takes months for all of the pitfalls to show themselves. My guess is that you were sleeping really well for the first time in a long time when you were first weaning down. Now, having been weaned way down for a while you are starting to have more normal, less deep sleep, and so you start to feel like you need a nap on a regular basis (but you probably couldn't sleep if you tried). You will survive, but some days will really suck. I had a 6+ a day Mt Dew habit in high school that I kicked at 20 and went completely caffeine free for a year. The first month I craved it, the second month I felt like I couldn't function without it, but by the end of the third month things were getting a lot better.

Increase your calories to 1400. Keep logging. That is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Is there another exercise you can add if Zumba is getting boring for you?

Thanks everyone! I went on a splurge this morning, but I am still going to log.. I think that is the first place I go wrong! I am feeling mighty emotional today too! Not too sure what's wrong with me, but I am going to try my hardest to get out of this funk!

Honey, only losing 9 lbs since early April is REALLY good! I think you should try to manage your weight loss expectations better. Realizing that it's going to take more than 6 weeks to see a real difference in your body.
I read somewhere (I forget where tho) that usually people give up after a month and they don't realize that a month is really just the beginning.

Instead of weighing yourself all the time, try taking measurements or pictures. Sometimes you may be down some inches instead of the number on the scale.

I also suggest reading this thread, it has helped me so much on my weight loss journey:
