are polar hrm interchangable?

I had a polar hrm, not sure of the model. I moved recently and seem to have lost the watch part in the move. I still have the chest strap. Does anyone know if I get a different watch part, can I link it up with the strap part? Or do I need to get a whole new set?

I have several Polar Watches and HRM and my experience has been good with them being inter-changeable. Sometimes there is a lag period of a few mins while it finds my heart rate, but I almost always have had them work. So you should be fine unless your new watch is a big upgrade from your old one and it uses some new technology for the chest strap. I have several older model chest straps that wont work with newer versions. I believe most watches if you have to buy a new one though comes with a free strap?? Hope this helps.0
