Adding exercise on iPhone

I just downloaded the iPhone app and am wondering how adding exercise works. I have the app set where it automatically counts my steps from the Health app and incorporates it into my cardio. Here's the issue—my primary form of exercise is dancing (swing & blues). What I'm wondering is if I should manually add this in the app as an exercise whenever I dance, or should I just let the step counter take care of that automatically?
