Anyone had dramatic weight loss due to tragic events?

. The last year I dropped 14lbs after maintaining. This was down to the stress of tragically losing my parents. Dad died sudden and mom got ill after he died and deteriorated with liver failure.

When my husband died suddenly I dropped from a size 14 to an 8 in a matter of weeks. Eventually it balanced out though. Usually I gain weight from stress, but this was a different type of stress I guess.

It's horrible isn't it? My mom became bed ridden towards end of illness after breaking her hip and helped out looking after her when I could, as I have a family. I'd walk back and forth to my mom and dads house everyday. I didn't really want to lose the extra weight because of what happened. I'm eating better now it's just I watch what I eat. As I don't want to put all the weight back on after losing the 40 odd pounds in weight.

I am sorry for your loss. It is such a deeply personal thing...everyone reacts to it differently. Just give yourself permission to feel the way you feel and over time it will not be so raw.

Yes i stopped eating or at least it mattered much less. its understandable because there are bigger issues at play. Are you ok? What do you need?

I'm so sorry for your loss, that sounds absolutely awful. My Dad suffered from four heart attacks last year and he then was diagnosed with MDS. My company also lost two board directors around the same time; adding more stress to an even more stressful situation. I lost 9kg in just over a month. Most of it was muscle though.

Back to a healthy 85kg and doing cardio; Dr say's I have a heart of an athlete but a figure of a teen who just discovered booze. (tiny beer gut!)

I didn't four years ago when my close stepdad became ill. I put on another whack of weight. I was depressed for a few of those years. I was just starting to feel better emotionally last fall, and then January found out my dad was sick. I could tell he had cancer. Appts were late, final confirmation was pancreatic cancer (late January) and he died just over a month later. It's devastating. I'm so sorry for your loss. This time I decided I need to do the opposite (not eat for comfort) and get healthier. Some weird coping mechanism. Sorry it's not what you were asking for, but just wanted to share a bit. I can't imagine losing both parents so close. So raw, and difficult.

I have changed my lifestyle after seeing what my parents lifestyle did to them. I won't even go near alcohol, I've seen what it does first hand to a person. I certainly won't over indulge on food either. My parents were great people but their lifestyles were very unhealthy.
