I am motivated by goals other than weight loss

Do you have goals other than weight loss? If so, I would enjoy hearing what you are trying to achieve.

MY STORY:

My MFP friends have heard me say this 100 times. Research has shown that it takes at least 66 days to change or acquire a new habit. So, for me, the key has been sticking with it even when the scale did not move or when I was hating going to the gym to exercise. Now, both things are coming much more naturally because they are becoming part of who I am and not something artificial I am doing to reach a goal weight. The changes I am making are ones that I believe I can sustain for the long haul. I like to say that, on MFP, we are playing the "long game."

I joined MFP to help me get a handle on my eating. After my first week at the gym, I had gained a pound and realized that I need to understand more about my eating if I was going to lose weight. However, I have other goals that have not been about weight loss.

The first was increasing my stamina. The second was to change my affect from one of a sedentary disabled person to a person who was energetic and coping with my impairments. After 101 days, I can say that I see movement on both of these goals.

I started out with 75 pounds to lose. I am down 20 as of my last official check in for weight. However, the bigger rewards are coming from how this is affecting other areas of my life. I feel well. I feel strong. Since starting on MFP, I have accomplished goals in my personal and spiritual life that I never thought I could achieve. People around me are sensing the change too.

It is all exciting stuff. I could not do it without the friends I have on MFP. I have chosen to friend people who are not trying to be exercise or nutrition experts. My MFP are all around positive support. I appreciate them tremendously.
