Mapmywalk Calories?

Just wondering what everyones experiences have been like using this app and how accurate you think the calorie burn is?

I walk daily, Mainly in the local forest or nature reserve and so there is a little up and down, not just flat walking on paths/roads.

Some of my workouts this week have been logged as

8.5 km walk in 2 hours 20 min burnt 650 cals
7 km walk in 1 hour 30 mins burnt 500 cals
8 km walk in 1 hour 30 mins burnt 570 cals
6.5 km in 2 hours burnt 520 cals

last week I walked 12 km in 3 hours and it gave me 900 exercise calories

How realistic are these calories burnt? I have been eating them back but they do seem quite high for just a walk?

    That and the other Map My apps run really high. I usually calculate one-third of what it says. So if it says I burned 300 calories, I'll enter 100 here on MFP.

    Make sure your weight and heigth is correct in the dashboard.

    My experience is the MapMyWalk over-estimates by 40-50%
