Hi all,
I am just curious as I sweat more when its hot out... do you lose more weight when you sweat more because its hot out?. Thanks in advance for any tips on this.
And I guess you would lose less weight when its cold out and not sunny, because you sweat less?.

When you sweat, all that you lose is water weight. What will happen is this: You sweat a lot, get dehydrated, step on the scale, and it looks like you lost 2 lbs. But, now you're thirsty, so you have a couple of those bottles of water you keep in the fridge for hot days and go about your normal evening. When you weigh yourself the next morning, that 2 lbs. is back.0

Sweat is just water, sugars, salt ect....not fat....when. you sweat you lose a little water weight which you just regain by rehydrating....BUT the actual "fat burn" comes from what you do when you sweat.....if you sit in a sauna for 2 hours you will lose a lot of water weight....good for dropping quick for a weigh in or something but not real weight loss.....but if you sweat a ton because you are outside playing soccer or in a gym doing cardio. Your are actually burning fat.....you burn fat by doing thinks that ellivate (spelling) your heart rate and keep your body moving.0

My trainer gave me this article that states when you lose a pound of fat 87% is lost through exhaling carbon dioxide. The other 13% is lost through elimination. If you sweat it is just water. So if you want to lose weight, essentially you have to become a heavy breather.0

Oh see, the whole thing goes like this: I before E except after C or when it sounds like A as in neighbor and weigh. But sometimes it's just weird.
Zack, how long ago did your biology teacher give you this info? Maybe your memory is sketchy. :bigsmile:0 -

My Biology teacher said that AIDS came from people having sex with monkeys. (Seriously.) I think he was wrong. That happens sometimes. http://www.livestrong.com/article/411095-does-sweating-mean-that-you-are-losing-weight/0

When I sweated....wow...he needs to pay attention in English more than biology. ....
You lose weight from sweat. Water weight. The second you take a drink of water. You gain it back....IT'S NOT FAT!!!

Yes, that's pretty much my understanding of it.
You burn fat by burning energy.
If you burned fat due to heat, there would be no fat people living in Florida.0 -

The fat doesn't 'go out with it' lol.... You lose weight by expending more energy than you eat. That's the ONLY thing that causes weight loss consistently.
You can sweat while you exersize, or you can sweat while you are hot, but you're never going to sweat the fat out of your pores.0 -
To be honest, the majority of the fat we excrete from our body is through exhalation (breathing out ).0
