Hi!

I do a lot of cardio and after reading a lot of your posts I'm thinking it's time to add strength training but I don't know where to begin. I am definitely but and thigh heavy and would love to see that trimmed down. I own a few weights, 3 and 5 pounds.

Any suggestions? TIA!

Look up jayme bayles on you tube. She has a great 30 min beginners workout. That's where I started. Enjoy!

I started with body weight exercises. Google "you are your own gym".
Then I moved to Jillian Michaels 30 Day shred...which uses bodyweight and small hand weights, which you can increase.

After doing two rounds of that I realize I wanted to be "strong" so I started doing SL 5x5

I saw a great increase in my strength with this. I moved to 3x5 using the same routine after 9 months due to time constraints..

Since then I have moved to 5/3/1...

Others like New Rules of Lifting for Women or starting strength.

Regardless of if you do resistance training with lighter weights or heavy lifting with compound movements you will get a benefit...so bascially find something with weights you like. Not everyone likes heavy lifting.

As well check out fitnessblender.com...they have lots of great workouts for strength and resistance training.
