Any good maple syrup ones that are on the healthy side
I buy it locally every season for about $48/gallon... mmmmm

I don't like maple nearly enough for that.

Now I was looking for an alternative for syrup for my two ingredient pancakes. And I want something healthy enough. Now I was looking at agave nectar but keep reading good and bad things about it.

Is it bad or good for you?

Agave syrup used to provide fiber along with sugars, but as it got popular, the processing changed and fiber is no longer present (we happened to have an old bottle and a new one of the same brand when the change was happening, where one has a few grams of fiber, and every bottle after lacks it).

As for healthy, though, maybe it would help to look at what else you get ASIDE from the sugar?

Agave syrup - For 1 oz, it has a little less than 10% of the daily required vitamin C (1.3 oz=10%) and a teensy bit of iron and calcium (it'd take over 5 ounces to reach 1% of your daily needs)

Pure Maple Syrup - For 1 oz, it has 2% of your daily iron needs, and 2% of your daily calcium needs. Not much else.

Honey (processed) - for 1 oz, it has 1% of your daily iron needs, but in terms of nutrients, not much else, either. It does have contain some mild anti-bacterial properties, I believe, though, so that's something to think of, I suppose (there are a type of medical bandages infused with honey in the UK right now, due to this).

High fructose corn syrup - For 1 oz, it pretty much has nothin'. You can get about 1% of your daily iron if you eat a cup of it.

Maybe that might help, depending on what vitamins you are more in need of. ^_^
