My Memorial Day run 2015 and what it means to me.

I'm thankful that I can now run and not feel the pressure of trying to perform, that I can stop and "smell the roses", that I can be thankful for the freedom we have and appreciate that it came with a price.
This might not mean much to those not in the USA, but for those of us here, we have freedom not typical of the rest of the world. Today is the day we honor those who fought for that freedom for us.
So, today is a day of thanksgiving for me, for the freedom, for the fact that MFP helped me maintain my fat loss goal for going on 5 years now, and for the fact that I enjoy running now without the excess strain on my body. I actually had chronic lower back pain most of my life that mysteriously went away once I lost that weight. It was a lot of stress on my small 5 foot body. The constant marathon running I did actually hindered fat loss. Now I just run 3-8 miles and ENJOY it.
I'm not constantly trying to beat my personal best. I'm healthier and stronger.
So that is my success I celebrate today.
I'm planning my meals for the week with a focus on protein and veggies, and just enough carbs/fat for energy and to feel good while maintaining the calorie budget for life.
And what I had to say (a little 11 second video before my run):
I hope you have a glorious Memorial Day, full of things to be thankful for.
