Protein Power: yes or no?

Are you for or against protein powders, and why?
Do you have reasons for choosing grass-fed undenatured, vegetable based, or other, or is taste the most important to you?
I personally follow a loosely-based Weston A Price Foundation diet http://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/abcs-of-nutrition/dietary-guidelines/ (fatty meat, raw milk, and eggs-are-good-for-us type of values)
These dietary guidelines would scorn protein powders because of their processed state and unnaturally high amount of protein, and would stress vitamin A and animal sources for muscle maintenance and repair. But lately I'm wondering if I'd like to branch out in this respect.
Thanks and happy fitness journeys!

Whey protein is just a high-protein food source. Unless lactose causes you issues, it shouldn't cause you any issues.
Also, unless you raise your own cows raw milk is generally not worth the price or safety issues.0 -
You're over thinking this, OP. Look for a protein powder that has great flavor reviews and one that isn't spiked with glycine and other artificial protein fillers. That's basically it. Go isolate if lactose intolerant, otherwise go with a whey blend.
As far as usage, the only thing that raises my eyebrow is people who require protein shakes every single day of their lives to hit their protein macro. Learn how to eat... Use the powder as a convenience.0 -

I do one a day, made with water, it works for me, I certainly can tell when I don't use it, I use natural powder only, it definitely helps maintain my weight and it's convenient first thing in the morning as I'm always rushing, sometimes I'll do a couple of boiled eggs and it has pretty much the same effect but it's time consuming which is a problem for me.0
