Helpful PT session

I had my free PT session on Saturday and it was incredibly helpful - he showed me where I was going wrong with deadlifts but best of all, he spotted several issues with my squats. Suggested that for the time being I focus on holding the bar in front of me (very light or no weights and higher reps) to get my form right then move onto 'normal' squats in a couple of months. I was tipping forward in the squat rather than going down so by holding the bar in front and lifting my elbows I'm forced to stay upright and put the effort through my legs rather than my lower back. Sounds (and feels!) very weird but I could feel the difference in my balance

Form above all else, otherwise injury will follow. Even once you have been lifting for awhile it never hurts to have a qualified trainer recheck your form from time to time. Especially as you begin to add a significant amount of weight in your progression.
