Does losing BF% take a long time?

So, after like a week of research and getting advice from people through the forums I have come to the conclusion that my goal really isn't just losing weight. I want to lose body fat and gain some muscle!! Now my question is ... how long does it take? I know it varies for everyone, but can someone ballpark it for me? If I go to the gym 4-5x a week (strength training for 40min-1hr) and eat lots of carbs/protein (still making sure I don't over eat using MFP), when should I expect to see at least somewhat of a difference?

Age:22
Height: 5ft 7in
Weight: 131lbs

Cal Intake
2024 on training days
1584 on rest days

Depends on whether you start a recomp or bulk/cut cycles.

    It would be recomp.

You're looking at a long time, but well worth it. I can't give you a ballpark figure, but people who have done recomps themselves would be able to tell you more. Good luck!

Also depends on your genetics, your training, your training history, current BF%.....

    Impossible question is impossible.

I still have to buy the tools to see what my BF% is. I guess maybe I did ask an impossible question huh Lol

The fastest way to find out is to do it for a couple of months and keep close track of the visual changes.

You don't mention fat in your macros. Believe it or not, you need fat to lose fat. But the fat should be healthy fats--olive oil, nuts and peanuts (including the butters), olives, avocados, canola oil, dark chocolate. You lose weight on low fat but not so much fat. For blood sugar control, it has been shown in research that 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat is best. But with all the workouts you do, you probably need more carbs. I would suggest 50% carbs, 25% protein and 25% fat.
