After the latest round of total no contact (which lasted 2 months), my exboyfriend has been calling and texting me incessantly the past few days. He always does this. Any time it gets to around 2+ months of me ignoring all his efforts to contact me, he freaks out and starts contacting me. However, any time I give in and talk to him surprise, surprise nothing has changed. He sends me all these texts trying to initiate conversations about us possibly reconciling. In the past though, whenever I've agreed to have these reconciliation type talks with him he just ends up staying with whoever his latest girlfriend is or if he's single at the time he'll be in a relationship with yet another girl within just a few weeks of me agreeing to give reconciliation a try. He's been with his current GF for just a little over a year now yet up until a few hours ago, he'd been contact me like crazy the past few days trying to find out why I'd been ignoring him the past 2 months and asking would I agree to reconcile if he does x, y & z? (Well, he listed specific things like offered to go to counseling, etc but you know what I mean).
I finally snapped and after 2 months NC tonight texted him back and basically told him that since he's been contacting me incessantly which is totally wrong anyways but even more messed up since he clearly has nothing worthwhile to offer me, that I'm going to go ahead and change my number. I basically told him that I'm not going to tolerate him jerking me around and/or harassing me like this anymore and if I need to change my number in order to stop him then so be it, that's what I'm going to do then. He immediately sent me all these texts saying stuff like I'm really sorry. Please don't change your number. I promise I won't bother you anymore". However, this certainly isn't the first time I've heard that before. So, I think I'm finally ready to change my number but there's just one thing holding me back.
I have 2 or 3 places right now (including Orchard Bank) that have been calling me pretty much every single day several times a day for awhile now. Obviously, they are trying to get money that I owe them. I realize that clearly what I need to do is find a way to make more money so that I can get caught up on my past due balance with them and then they'll stop harassing me with THEIR incessant calls. Here's my concern about changing my number. If I do that, do you think they might start calling my parents and/or other relatives in order to try and get their money I know that nowadays it's very easy to do a quick search online and obtain such information, like who my relatives are and their phone numbers, etc. I would feel so badly if these creditors started harassing my parents once they realized that they no longer had any chance of reaching me by phone. Also, I'm sure that would (understandably) really irritate my parents if they started getting a bunch of calls from these creditors that were looking for me. That hasn't happened in quite awhile and I really, really don't want it to happen again. So, my concerns about that are pretty much the only thing holding me back from changing my number. It would make me much happier to not have my exboyfriend continuing to contact me all the time (even though he's clearly choosing not to offer me anything worthwhile). However, I don't want to end up trading one major set of stress/worries for another. So, advice/input on whether or not you think those creditors would start contacting my parents once I change my number would be much appreciated! Thanks!
