I'm just feeling frustrated and defeated. I knew this was going to happen but it's hitting way harder then I thought. I was down 75 pounds and in the best shape of my life at 185 pounds and continuing to lose. Then I got pregnant, on purpose, but now I've already gained 15 pounds in the first trimester. Dr says I can only gain 15 pounds the entire pregnancy 0_0 I tried continuing to eat healthy but carbs were calling my name when I was feeling sick. Now entering the second trimester, more energy and eating healthy again. My boyfriend and I actually got into a arguement this weekend because of my poor eating the last few months. He's also a former fatty and an over eater. Now I feel self consious about eating anything in front of him, ugh, this seems to be my worst nightmare. I just feel lost, I don't know what to eat or when to eat it or how much to eat.

You need to eat because you are pregnant. He should not be making you feel bad about it, he should be helping you do better. He helped make that baby lol.
Just keep healthy stuff on hand instead of junk so it won't tempt you. Plus, think about getting all the good stuff to your little fetus baby! In terms of specific diets/meal plans, I do not know any, but I'm sure there are other healthy mamas out there on the internet somewhere. Just focus on being healthy & worry about getting back in shape after the little one is out.

    Congratulations!!!

I think you should forget about the fad diets and the extreme calorie counting and high protein/low fat stuff, and just listen to your doctor for the next 6 months or so. Talk to a nutritionist if possible. Nutrition requirements during pregnancy are different than they are at other times, and this is an extremely important time in your baby's life.

Congratulations on the pregnancy! Can your doctor refer you to a nutritionist? Or, have you input your stats here and determined what your calorie intake should be? Unless you are carrying multiples the quantity of your food intake shouldn't increase all that much. QUALITY of your calories are what's important for a healthy baby and a healthy YOU. You aren't eating for 2 people, as many people like to think. A baby is tiny. They need good nutrients. Focus on health and quality right now. And walk. A LOT. It helps!

Talk to your doctor about how many calories you need, what foods you should be eating. Fruits, veggies, lean protein are always good options. Fish high in omega 3s is good, but skip fish high in mercury.
And did your doctor tell you that you canNOT gain more than 15 lbs, or that s/he recommends you gain no more than 15 lbs? Your dr probably won't want you to try to lose weight/not gain anymore weight throughout the rest of your pregnancy.
Just talk to your doctor about all your concerns! And keep in mind, you've lost 75 before -- you know you'll be able to lose the baby weight after baby is born! Baby's health should be first and foremost.

Thank you, I know what I should be eating. Part of my weight gain has been reintroducing foods I was skipping before to maintain weight loss, milk, cheese and most carbs (good ones). My Dr just recommended I only gain 15, I'm overall very healthy and this is my second child. I never had gestational diabetes or really any problems with her and I was way more overweight than now.

    Well... Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!
It is a bit of a myth that you have to eat for two but just be as healthy as you can.
Carb fests are not too good as the majority are full of fat or you want to put some kind of fat spread on it.
Porridge is a great way of keeping those hunger pangs and Carb cravings at bay.
Don't worry too much as I can tell you're not going back to your old ways xxx

So then why do you "just feel lost"?

Listen, you did what you had to do to get through the first trimester. It's tough so don't be too hard on yourself. However, focus on what you are going to do going forward. If you're like me (I'm 13 weeks pregnant) you're getting some energy back and can start going for walks. Do it. As far as nutrition, take your vitamins and eat healthy. You know how to do that. In the second and third trimester you only need to add 300 calories to what you ate pre-pregnancy to maintain your weight. If you're overweight you can even eat fewer calories, like what you would eat to maintain. The key is to eat healthy, take your vitamins, and add calcium because babies suck it out of you! I do calcium chews. I rejoined MFP today to reel my eating back in so we're in the same boat, sister!
