Double Dipping?

I have a fitbit and I am just starting a C25k app on my cell phone. The C25K has the option to sync with MFP but I am unsure if I should. Would it be double counting calories burned to have both synced or do the apps account for that?

If both are syncing they will be counting the same burn twice.

Assuming you use your fitbit for more than just running it would seem sensible to allow it to sync, not the C25k app.

I have a similar situation with Strava (running, cycling focussed app) being fed by my Garmin watch. I don't let Strava sync to MFP because Strava *always* produces a higher calorie burn estimate than the Garmin device itself, and Strava is typically higher than MFP's own estimates which for my running I find to be on the high side too.

When I did let Strava update, I would continually be editing the calories down in MFP.

I mention this because regardless of which device/app you allow to sync you might find that your fitbit and/or C25K app estimate high, so I wanted to point out that you can lower the allocated burn directly in MFP.

In the end I'm satisfied with the Garmin calorie accounting for running so I have Garmin update MFP directly.

If you wear your Fitbit while you run, don't bother allowing the C25K app sync. The calories are supposed to get balanced out/canceled out but I found that wasn't happening for me. I do log my runs in Runkeeper, which can sync to MFP, but I always have my Fitbit on and record all activity in it & sync it here. I use Runkeeper purely to collect the data.
