I was wondering if your trying to loose weight is it ok to do squat challenges and others? It may sound dumb but I wanted to make sure that it's not going to have any negative affect as I progressively loose weight.

Yes, it's completely fine. You can do any exercise you want to while you lose weight. Weight loss comes from eating less than you burn in a day.

    For instance, I:
    Run (2-3 times a week)
Jason Blaha's Ice Cream Fitness 5x5 3 times a week
3 - 30 Day Challenge phone apps this month (30 Day Ab Workout, 30 Day Squat Workout, 30 Day Push-Up Workout)
and I even throw in random extra workout videos from time to time

^none of that is necessary for weight loss, but it doesn't stop me from losing weight either.

You might experience water retention at first if your body isn't used to the level of exercise. It goes away on it's own though don't worry.

It's fine. Might as well do a full body workout a few times a week instead, but whatever floats your boat.

Do squat challenges actually work to increase the pack in the back? Whenever I do squats, it always seems my thighs get bigger instead.

I'm not sure if high volume body weight squats actually do anything for the glutes. I'm pretty sure weighted squats and hip thrusts help with that area though.

I'm just doing the apps for fun. Okay, now I'm sure that sounds weird, but it's true. For some reason I find the challenge fun, but I might lay off the squat one after I'm finished with this level (7 days left).
