Eating healthy at work? Help?

I work 16 hours shifts on the weekends. My coworkers really put the peer-pressure on and encourage ordering out as a group. Even when I bring my own meals I always feel tempted to give in and order with them; and often enough there are never any healthy options. Then when the weekdays come I have a hard time readjusting to healthy foods. ...any advice?

Yes this is a tough situation but the good news is that it doesn't have to be. It'll take you a good week or two of being consistent with bringing your own meals and snacks, and then you won't feel tempted anymore.

I gained about 15 pounds my first year at work due to similar circumstances. I also used to snack at my desk all day long on chips and cookies. I finally started bringing my own food (and yes a lot of times I didn't eat it and went out for lunch), and eventually I got used to my own lunch and don't feel tempted anymore. For snacking, I started drinking tea all day long without sugar and it really helped curb my cravings. I bought all kinds of fun flavors so I really enjoyed drinking the tea and then before I knew it, I broke my snacking habit.

So try making small changes and eventually you will break bad habits. Maybe drink coffee black if you don't like tea, or start putting fruits in your water and sip on that all day.

At my job we don't order out, but there are often snacks and people encourage me to try them. I have told them honestly that I have a problem with food, please don't ask me. I had to repeat it a few times. I tell them how hard I'm working, that it's tough for me to do, and when I got to 10 lbs down I told everyone. I bring my lunch and eat a bigger breakfast at home than I used to, so I'm not starving by lunch time. Protein with breakfast helps with that, too.
