chemotherapy steroids

Hello,

I've just completed 6 months of chemotherapy and I am happy to say that the worst is over. Unfortunately, due to the usage of steroids over the last half year, I've gained an incredible 20 lbs. The majority is swelling and water weight, but its still depressing to go from a fit, active person to someone who wasn't able to keep up her daily workouts. My doctors tell me the weight will come off naturally once the medication is out of my system - the waiting is the worst part. Today was the first day back into my regular exercise and food routine. Let's hope this 20lbs is gone within the next 2 months!

    Hello Kaylatremblett,

I hope you have, by now, returned to full health. Sadly I find myself in a similar situation although yet to commence my chemotherapy and so read your post with interest.

I wonder if I may ask if you have found any "strategies" that work for you or, indeed, things to avoid?

By the way, if you've ever wondered where the weight goes when one looses it, which I did; partly out of interest but mainly to see if I could use said knowledge to influence my own weight, then you will learn much from this:

Hope your recovery is progressing apace.

    Kind regards,

    Andreas
