I saw this in a blog just now: "There is no reason women should strength train differently from men. Man muscles are not alien tissue. Man muscles and woman muscles are the same. They are human muscles. They respond to the same fuel and the same stimulus." Is this true?

Yes. Now what you will notice is the gains won't be like a man because of lack of testosterone.

    What he said.

What has led you to believe that women and men have different muscles or muscle tissue?

As long as you aren't eating at a caloric surplus you can eat chocolate every day.

Yes, OP. There is no need for men and women to train differently. How you train should be based on your goals regardless of gender.

Stuff like this has to be why some people feel that women can just become bulky from lifting weight. Even for men it is a task that takes works. It takes way longer for women to and they would never get that muscular physique that men have naturally.

Muscle is Muscle, whether it is Male or Female! Strength gains can be achieved by both, though it will take a little longer for a woman than a man of equal lean muscle mass. However muscle growth will be a lot less noticeable in a woman due to lack of testosterone.

So if you and man of equal lean muscle mass start a StrongLifts 5x5 program you will each progress through it differently only due to your lack of testosterone. You will gain far less lean muscle mass and your strength gains will be limited by that fact. Do not let that discourage you there many women here that have achieved great bodies and strength gains by going through a well structured program.

And I've known a few women that can out lift and out perform men of equal size. Just because of their diets, program and good genetics.

    Good Luck and Good Lifting!
