Feel fatter even though I'm thinner

Hi every body,
I'm new here so hello! I wondered if anyone has the same problem as me. Before I lost weight I was actually happy with my body but I realise now that I suffered from body blindness. I thought I was thinner than I was. When I accepted there was a problem I started losing weight. I've currently lost 35lb but I feel fatter than I ever did before. It's so confusing! Anyone feel the same? I weigh less, my clothes are too big and I can see results in my before and after photo's but I feel so fat. I still have about 20 lb to lose so maybe things will change...

You just need to trust when other people tell you that YOU LOOK GREAT!
Seriously, I know that doesn't completely answer your concerns,
but I just looked at your profile pics and you look awesome!!!
I'm a complete stranger, I have no reason to lie to you.
I feel like I look the same no matter what the scale says.
The only time I've ever felt good about my body is when I was lifting weights
consistently and doing bootcamp classes because my arms, legs and butt
were starting to look really firm.
Seriously, just keep letting the compliments wash over you until you start to believe what everyone's telling you!
You look GREAT!0 -
It's all in your mind. You said yourself, you're losing weight, so you can't possibly be fatter! Plus your before and after pic obviously shows you've lost some weight (although I don't think you look really fat before hand anyway). Be careful of developing an eating disorder or body dysmorphic disorder, just think about what you're doing just to improve your health and everything will come out good in the end!0

You are not alone! I was unhappy with how I looked but now even more so after losing, I keep thinking jeez if this is how I look after 20lbs loss then what after my goal. I have started taking more pictures, bringing out my bigger clothes, this way actually see the difference. unfortunately by focusing on weight loss you notice all the bits you forgot about last time! it does get better. I had a whats the point moment last week but this week am actually seeing the difference and am a much happier camper. just stick with it and listen to people, take it slow and steady and you will notice the change.0

you look amazing so far, really can see the difference!0

Thank you everyone! Like I said I know I am thinner. But losing weight forces you to admit the things you ignored before, I never looked in the mirror and saw a fat person, and now I do. It was all part of the denial I had created to avoid having to see the reality. I am glad to hear that people can relate, even though it sounds so backwards. I guess it takes your brain a lot of time to catch up!0

I can relate - but it definitely comes in cycles. I think you hit it right on the head, when you said it takes time for the brain to catch up. Another possibility, (which I don't know if it is valid or not), sometimes I think I am just naturally a little more critical now, because of the time and effort i put in. But I just keep pushing on and trusting my body.
About a month ago, the scale told me I gained 8 pounds, in 5 days. I was FURIOUS! Nothing had changed. Food - same. Exercise - same. Water - same. Clothes....same?? yep. So I don't know what ACTUALLY happened....I was just glad I didn't have to loosen the belt. The "weight" didn't come off all at once either...I have been a steady .5 to 1 lbs a week.
Some days I feel like WOW, I done good! other days, i feel worse than i started.
I do want to tell you - your progress is noticed! So keep going! Here's to hoping our brains catch up!0 -
When I posted this I didn't know if I would be alone in this but from what I can see it's more common than I thought! When you start this journey you do assume that the lower the number on the scales, the sexier and more confident you will feel. I wish it worked that way.
I started a burlesque class yesterday, I'm thinking this may be a good idea to give me a boost, it's surprising what a work out you get from it too!0
