Dry mouth and bruises since starting

I constantly have a dry mouth and weird taste in it no matter how much I brush and have bruises head to toe since I started dieting and excersizing about 5 weeks ago.

Why? Am I not getting enough of something? Would vitamins help?

@UltimateRBF For breakfast usually a yogurt or smoothie with Greek yogurt and frozen fruits...
Maybe a piece of fruit for a snack
Lunch is a salad or wrap with either tuna or deli meat
Supper is usually 2 veggies and some meat

I haven't been logging calories.. I just downloaded this app... But I think they're usually at 1,000 ish a day... And I ride the stationary bike for 45 mins every day and up on my feet a lot with my daughter and nephew all day

That's not enough calories. But the symptoms ought to be checked by your doctor.

The bruising may be nothing but could be a sign of various medical issues. I would get it checked as soon as possible. Then ask the doc about the number of calories you need. In the meantime log so you know what you're getting now.

@allenpriest I'm not sure if that's how many I get since I don't really log them I was just guessing... But I barely ever get hungry so I would think I was getting enough... I've never eaten big amounts just the stuff I ate before I started to diet was really unhealthy so even the smallest little bit would have a lot of calories

Start logging so your not guessing.

But with out knowing your height or weight 1000 cal sounds too low.

Make sure your getting enough fats and protein.

What exercises are you doing. Like are you getting bruises when you get kicked in the shins while playing football or are you getting bruises for no reason.

Maybe see a doctor about the bruises and eat more, you not doing yourself any favours by not eating enough. If you aren't.

If you notice you are bruising more easily, it's time to see your doctor. It could be a number of things, such as leukemia, anemia or something simple (like an iron deficiency).

@Merkavar I'm 20 yrs old. 5'0 and currently 119 lbs, I've lost 10 and trying to get to 105 which is pre baby weight.
I'm just riding the stationary bike and doing random stuff like squats, lunges, etc.. And I'm getting the bruises from out of nowhere it seems. I have about 6 on my legs and feet, one of my butt, two on my arms and one on my side... I don't do anything rough to get them and don't remember bumping anything. But like I said I'm not ever hungry and when I am I make sure I eat

At a guess based on my own foods and exercises it sounds more like you netting 700-900 calories.

1000ish from food less the exercise

@elphie754 after I had my daughter my iron was too low and they had me on tablets to get it back up and eating certain foods to make it go back up... I can't remember bruising easier back then or not even though it was only 6 months ago... They never checked me to see if it went back up but I can't imagine it would've been low that long and is only now be seeing bruises and stuff

@Merkavar I'll definitely start logging and I didn't really take exercising into consideration when I was thinking of calories

My stats are very similar to yours. And same exact thing happened to me last week. I've been diagnosed with low iron though. I started taking my iron pills again and the bruising stopped.

If I were you I'd take a trip to the DR and let them do blood work and stuff. If things are within normal limits you'll have peace of mind.

I would just go to the dr so your not guessing. Too much or too little iron can be bad. So if your not deficient and your trying to increase it might have other problems.

I agree with those who suggest that you see a doctor, soon. As Allen said, bruising can be a sign of a number of medical problems. Including malnutrition.

And yeah, log your foods. And your exercise. And maybe get your doctor to set up an appointment with a nutritionist.

You're eating less than I am, and I'm at a 1200-calorie diet aimed at losing a pound a week. I'm 63, work at a job that keeps me sitting permuch all day, 5-foot-5 and 164 pounds.

You're young and very active. I can't tell at long distance just how many calories you need, but I'm sure it's more.

    This chart
    http://www.cnpp.usda.gov/sites/default/files/usda_food_patterns/EstimatedCalorieNeedsPerDayTable.pdf
estimates that an acttive person your age needs about 2,200 calories a day to maintain weight, and a very active person your age needs about 2,400.

    This calculator
    http://nutritiondata.self.com/tools/calories-burned
lets you factor in your height, weight and activity.
Just at an off-the-wall guess, I put in a height of 5-2, weight of 120, active lifestyle plus 45 minutes of vigorous stationary bicycling. It said that to maintain weight, someone with those stats should eat 2,800 calories a day.

Once you know what you should be eating, if you can't eat it all in three meals, split them into little nibbly bits throughout the day.

Best of luck! Let us know what you find out. :)

You'd have to eat liver several times a day to get the same iron in a single therapeutic pill. Get some blood tests please.

Hey love. I had this bruising issue too and it turns out I have a platelet disorder. My body got angry at my son's genes when I was pregnant and my antibodies started attacking his proteins and freaked out and went all crazy on my platelets by mistake. It's called ITP. You should go get blood work done so they can check your levels. The first platelet count came back supremely low (at danger for internal bleeding low!) and I never would have known anything was actually wrong till I went to my 6 week post partum checkup and my doctor ordered a rush blood test and had me see a hematologist the next morning. Go get looked at and just do like I do and wear pants and long sleeves for a bit.
