Scale questions..

So, I weighed myself this morning, after I peed and before drinking/eating anything because that's how I was told you are supposed to do it. I weighed in at 191.4 pounds which I was ecstatic about because it's the lowest I've been in 3 years. I had a small errand to run. Took about an hour altogether. I had drank maybe a half cup of water in this period. I got home and peed again and decided to weigh myself out of sheer curiosity of what just a tiny bit of water would do. It weighed me in at 192.2 pounds.
So I was just wondering for the people who know more about these things.. how accurate is the scale really? I mean I logged my weight today as 191.4 but should I have? Is that really my actual weight? I weighed 195, 5 days ago which means I lost like 4 pounds if the scale is correct. (I've been sticking to my diet and doing the Slim In 6 dvd)
I guess I am really just hoping for confirmation that I actually am losing! And I always wondered about how scales work. Oh and I also had on the exact same clothes when I weighed both times.
Thanks.

Just go with the first number at the start of the day - body weight fluctuates all day long as we eat, drink, by what we wear, use the bathroom etc. I weigh myself every morning, and my numbers change daily, sometimes up, sometimes down, sometimes a pound, sometimes as much as 4lbs. I know I'm not losing or gaining 4lbs of fat overnight, so I don't let the numbers get to me - it's just normal body fluctuations.
If the numbers bug ya, then try weighing only once a week, or every two weeks. The tape measure is a more accurate way to gauge your progress - many times inches are lost while the scale is busy playing games with your head.0 -
If you're sticking to a diet and exercising, then yes you're losing!
It doesn't necessarily get shown by the number on the scale. This is why I stopped weighing myself more than once a week... I'm now to the point where I'm considering doing it every 2 weeks because seeing the number not change, or even go up can be highly discouraging.
I'd say take pictures. Take measurements besides weight. The proof is in the pictures and how many inches you've lost, and will continue to lose. Sometimes the scale lies.0 -
I do it the same time of day and same scale before eating/drinking anything for the day like you. It's consistent as your weight ever gets. It's your weight that fluctuates often, not your scale ) It's normal!0

My weight swings drastically (1-5 lbs) from morning to night, and day to day. Although I weigh myself every morning because that scale is staring up at me, I only log Tuesday mornings. I watch the graph over time to see if the trend fits my goal. For me, body weight is only a portion of the evaluation of progress.0
