HRM ... wrong weight = wrong calories burned?

Hey y'all! I've been doing OTF (OrangeTheory Fitness) and before I started I gave them a weight (with not having weighed myself in about a year). I just had the chance to weigh myself as I bought a scale and realized that I'm about 30lbs over what I told them. I'm burning 500-600 cals in a class, but I'm worried that because they have the wrong weight that my calories burned are off as well. Would it be more or less calories?

Anyone do OTF? Do you tell them when you've lost/gained weight for HRM purposes?

Thanks!

I had never heard of it. It seems to be a circuit based program where you switch up the things you are doing? Are there breaks?

Looking at the description of OTF, it doesn't seem like an activity that an HRM would be accurate for despite the numbers you input.

That is correct - you do switch things up... Rowing, Treads, and HIIT ... The whole concept is to wear the HRM and keep your heart rate in the "orange" zone.

Regardless, would I be burning more or less calories if my weight is higher than what is programmed?

    Thanks!

more weight generally means more calories burned for the same exercise... This is based on a lot of variables. more fat = higher calorie burn whereas more muscle weight might mean you are more efficient and burn less calories.
