5'6 thick and loves to eat

5'6 and a half and weighing in at 166.. is that a good weight or not for someone my height? I'm thick when it comes to my hips and my stomach is not where I want it. What's a good way for me to lose weight? I LOOOVVVEE eating but I want to lose the weight I still eat stuff that I like.

You can't spot reduce areas; if you want fat to leave your stomach, you'll need overall fat reduction. Fat will leave when and where it wants to leave. You can still eat the foods you want, as long as you have an overall calorie deficit.
Weight wise, that's subjective. Some people think that's perfect for them, others like their number higher or lower. You need to figure out what you want, and what works best for you.0 -
Feel free to look at my profile? I'm 5'6ish, 162lbs and I think I'm likely what you would consider "thick". I'm looking to drop to about 145 because I feel my body fat is a bit too high.
To lose weight, run a caloric deficit. How much of one is up to you. Even 250 cals per day under maintenance will allow you to lose 2lbs a month.0 -

I'm 5'6" and I felt my best at 159. I'm thick too mostly my legs...Also want to work on my stomach more. Maybe an ab workout. 1200 calories a day is helping me drop pounds. Definitely watch calories. I am currently trying to get back to 159. Good Luck.0

You're above what health experts would consider a healthy weight. Using BMI as a guide 156 is the maximum "healthy" weight for someone your height. Now your'e not very far away from that, and people's bodies are different so you might be closer to healthy than the 10lbs difference. I'd suggest that you start modestly. Just log your food and exercise for a few weeks. You may find that you eat at a maintenance level and with just a little exercise you could drop a few lbs in a couple of months. Or you may find that you are indeed eating to much and are on the slow ramp to a much higher number in a few years. Then you are going to have to learn to modify your habits to just stay at the weight you're at.
Most of us gained our weight slowly and over decades. Over eating just 100 calories a day (half a bottle of cola) will make you gain 10lbs a year. You're young enough that you might be able to avoid that by starting to make good habits now.0 -
If you do want to lose, you will have to change something. You're used to eating a particular amount of the food you like, that's the amount that gets you full now. You'll either have to just eat less (which might mean being hungry) or make a few changes here and there that will get you more full on less food (like eating a few new things sometimes). Doesn't mean you have to cut out the kinds of food you like, though.0

It's roughly 15 lbs overweight. It's probably not enough to cause any significant health problems, so it's really a matter of personal preference.
Unless you have a health condition (like Diabetes or PCOS), the only thing you need to lose weight is a calorie deficit. You can eat literally any food, and if you keep a calorie deficit, you will lose weight.
As far as body composition, you can't choose where the weight comes off. The body loses where it wants to lose. Strength training is frequently recommended on here, and I agree with the recommondation.0 -

I can make it appear like I do, but I really don't. I'm just genetically blessed with curves. My bust measurement falls about 5 inches shy of my hip measurement; I'm very pear shaped haha.0 -
It just depends on your body. For me at the same height and weight I am at 25 percent body fat. I'm strong and able to do everything I want to do. I don't want to lose more and chance losing muscle.0
