Does anyone know how many calories would be in a 100g slice of carrot cake?

Much more than you might imagine.

This is a Tasmania-wide bakery which I've gone to several times. My favourite choice is the carrot cake ... or it was until I had a look at the calorie count in comparison with other selections:
    http://www.banjos.com.au/products/sweets/cakes/

As you can see, the serving size is 116 grams and it is 2500 kj (to translate kj into calories, divide by 4 ... approximately). So that's approx. 625 cal.
    http://www.banjos.com.au/our-products/carrot-cake/

It is either the highest item on the menu ... or one of the highest.

Unless it's a "healthy" carrot cake that's probably low. Does it have icing? I would just add 500.

    Depends on the ingredients.

For example, day before yesterday I made some Betty Crocker Carrot cake (albeit no icing, I was lazy). I substituted the oil for applesauce and used 2 eggs instead of 3.

100g of that was 257 calories.

So yeah... it really depends on the recipe/ingredients.

360 seems low ... unless it didn't have the icing. If it was just the cake ... maybe. But I think that icing throws it up and over 500.

I made carrot cake with cream cheese icing for the first time in January, and WOW is it ever full of oil and sugar, and the icing is cream cheese with a massive amount of sugar. Or at least the recipe I used was. I wouldn't assume that a 100 gram piece was any less than 500 and probably more like 600 or more.

The carrot cake at Banjos (linked in my first post) was similar to the one I baked ... rich and moist with a decent layer of cream cheese icing.

But if your recipe substituted oil for applesauce, etc. like another poster mentioned ... then I could see it being lower. Or if it didn't have that icing.

I've noticed that the "Generic" choices are often a bit low. Just today, I wanted to enter a small bowl of apple crumble, which had very little "crumble", and was looking for a good guess at how many calories that might be. I selected Generic to check the nutrition details, and it told me that the amount of apple crumble I had was about 80 cal. Hmmm. Nice ... but don't think so. That doesn't seem at all realistic. I went with one that was about 275.

because it's going to depend on who made the carrot cake...my carrot cake might have more or less calories than your carrot cake depending on how much oil I used, how much sugar I used, etc.

if it's homemade you should use the recipe builder. if it's from a bakery you could look to see if that bakery is in the database...otherwise than that, just pick one...at that point it's just a guess anyway.

Yes, well ... for me, right now, as much as I love it, carrot cake is out of the question ... unless I put in a really good cycling effort.

Although I am kind of interested in a lower calorie recipe ...
