If at first you don't succeed, try, try again....

And again, and again, and again. It seems like a never-ending battle. Tracking calories and exercise can be extremely time-consuming so I joined MFP and bought the Body Media Link. I've been a member of MFP for a long time but just recently got the Body Media. Also I don't have a smart phone (yet) but did recently buy a tablet and am using the apps. Pretty cool. I sit at a desk all day and have responsibilities at home that consume a lot of my time so I can't seem to find time to exercise.

The Body Media really gives me incentive to try & make time to get up & move, but I'm having a lot of problems with the Body Media and the information it's providing. How can I have walked 250 steps when I just got out of bed 10 minutes ago? (I wore it all night). I thought if I waited a week or so it would eventually calibrate and give more accurate readings, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The amount of activity pulled in by MFP shows net calories (Calories - BM activity = Net calories [I can eat "this" much, right?]). By using that I gained back the 1-2 lbs I lost.

I'm thinking there must be a setting I'm overlooking, whether it be on MFP or BM website. I've researched and found that I need to take off the armband or at least turn it upside down when I'm driving because BM picks up that motion. But there's got to be something else because the excess calorie burns also happen when I'm at work. BTW I type most of the day (and I'm pretty quick) so maybe it's picking up that motion too.

There is an MET slider on BM website, but I don't really understand it. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get a more accurate reading from the armband?

Plus, hopefully I can find someone on MFP site and become walking buddies. Any suggestions are welcome.
