I am wondering for those of you that have entered the calorie amounts of vitamins/supplements into this site, I have a question for you guys...

Since there is no listing of calorie counts on most bottles - how do you know the calories you posted. Is it just an estimation?

Mine have calories listed, scan the barcodes. I take 1 of each a day and it's about 10 cals. Not really worth listing for the cals, but I bring my diary reports printed to the Dr when I go for full disclosure.

Osteo Bi-Flex - Glucasamine Chondroitin Msm W/5-Loxin Advanced Triple Strength, 1 caplets 5

I log all of my nutritional supplements. some have a few calories and some don't have the or information is unavailable. The number is really so low it is negligible and I don't worry about it. I do log them for tracking the macros though.

Yes, I'm not too concerned about 'to log or not to log', but curious of those that have posted the calorie count of some supplements when the info is not labeled on the container. I'm wondering where they get the info from.

I log mine. My gummy vitamins are fifteen calories (for two).

The only thing I currently take is Vitamin D and I don't bother logging it, but it does have the calories on the bottle, which is pretty common in my experience. I assume people are finding their product in the database, scanning the barcode, or entering it from calories on the bottles they have or perhaps from the product's website.

You can either scan the barcode, search for it in the database, or go to the manufacturer’s website for the information.

Logging is a good idea, certain supplements can add up. My fish oil is 60 calories a day, for instance.

Edit: if you’re asking where the information already in the database comes from, I would assume people entered it after checking the manufacturer’s website/information.
