Would you believe that while The Wall is a great album, Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite?

Did you know that the same applies to me? Although not true for Comfortably Numb, did you know that I used to be able to play Is There Anybody Out There on my acoustic guitar many moons ago?

How can I not be tempted to say Bike since Syd doesn't get enough credit? But... most likely Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun? How about you?

Do you know that Wish You Were Here is one of the only songs that exists which makes me actually feel feels?

Would you believe that I think the best thing to come out of Syd's time with Floyd is Shine On You Crazy Diamond?

Also, do you know that Time is by far - like by far - my favorite Pink Floyd song?

Did you know that it holds a lot of sentimental value for me, to the point I get very sad listening to it?

Well do you know that makes two of us then? Would you believe that while I love that song, I kind of avoid it for that reason?

Vik, did you know that you're now taking me back to when I was a teen because that used to be my favourite Pink Floyd song back then?

How can I not say that Time is also a great choice?

How could I not agree with Time? What are your thoughts on Comfortably Numb and Money?

Do you know that Comfortably Numb is my second favorite? Also, would you believe that while I like Money, it's not in my top 10 for Pink Floyd?

I guess I'm lucky that Wish You Were Here holds no sentimental value for me?

How can one not think that the above two songs aren't classics? But would you know that when I do play Pink Floyd, I tend to reach for Atom Heart Mother and Animals just as much as Wish You Were Here?

Do you know that I had to take some benadryl a bit ago due to an allergy attack, and now I'm starting to feel really sleepy?

Do you get seasonal allergies? Would it surprise you that they make me really drowsy too so I gave up taking them?

Do you know that I just have all the time allergies pretty much, but they're worse sometimes, at random? Also do you know that I routinely take Benadryl as a sleep aid because it's the only thing that helps with my insomnia without making me feel too groggy the next day?

How funny is it that you're talking about it because I was just thinking earlier today, after last night's stupid incident, that I ought to pick up another bottle for that very function since I used up the rest of my last bottle as a sleep aid when I was in school?

So I'm not the only one who had a stupid incident last week?

    fjellrev Posts: 5,078 Member
Well, by stupid incident, do you know that I'm referring to the insomnia BS too, and that I don't need a specific incident to occur in order to keep me up all night like that since it's just so hard to turn off my brain?

Ah, do you know I relate to that about a million percent? Would you believe that the root cause of my insomnia seems to be just overthinking all of the things forever?
  • fjellrev

Seriously, what's with the overthinking which is also the root cause for me? Must we annihilate a bunch of our braincells in order to be able to sleep normally?

Do you know that I've actually just developed a mediation technique over the years which, about 70% of the time, helps me clear my mind enough to get to sleep?
  • fjellrev
    fjellrev Posts: 5,078 Member
How did you come about developing such a technique, and could you elaborate on it?
  • OneHundredToLose
    OneHundredToLose Posts: 8,523 Member
Do you know that it was developed in much the same way as evolution, in that the things that led to me getting to sleep faster just slowly trended toward a fully developed feature? Would it make sense to you if I put it in list format?

    1) Slow heart rate through rhythmic and methodical breathing
    2) Eyes closed, picture a blank white wall
    3) Consciously reject all thought (hardest part by far)
    4) Sometimes I play classical music in my head, had to memorize a few pieces to make this work

Do you know that usually gets me there, or at least faster than it would if I didn't do it?

How many times have I tried meditation in this similar fashion and it never worked, but perhaps it doesn't hurt to keep trying? How long would you say it takes for you, on average, to fall asleep every night? And when the above is successful, how much faster would you fall asleep?

On an average night where I'm not going to have a bad bout, do you know it takes me 30 - 60min to fall asleep? If I am having a bad night and the above technique helps, maybe 60 - 90 min? If it's a really bad night, do you know that generally nothing works other than popping a bunch of benadryl or slamming like 4 shots of whiskey?

Would you know that it sounds like we run along the same line with how long it generally takes to fall asleep then? Although maybe for me, it's more like a minimum of 45 minutes, but close enough, eh?
