Losing weight when taking hormone replacement therapy

Hello everyone, i am not new to MFP but have been AWOL for a while and lo and behold have gained back a lot of what I lost the first time. I am 49 and 15 years ago had an overactive thyroid, took nuclear medicine to kill my thyroid and have been taking Sythnroid since. I have heard and read that it's very difficult to lose weight when your thyroid is messed up. I know it's not impossible since I did it the first time but would love to hear from others who have the same issue and have had success. Since I am older now and don't know if that has anything to do with it. To be honest I have a problem getting motivated to work out, whereas before I used to take any opportunity to go to hot yoga or the gym. Trying to get back on the horse and have recruited my three daughters (23,19,13) to join me for support. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone with thyroid issues. Thanks

I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease). I lost way more slowly than most MFPers, so be patient! But I did it just like everybody else—by eating fewer calories than I burn.
