hi I've been training for the Swansea half marathon for the last 8 months these last few days my hip has had a niggly feeling after running ' I went for a long run today and am in total agony with my hip it's so uncomfortable I could cry' thing is the half marathon is two weeks tomoz shall I just rest until then I'm so disappointed

A few day's rest wont reverse all the training you've done. Rest it for a few days then see how it is0

You should "taper" anyway, which means running much less, leading up to a race. It actually improves your performance. Taper should be 1 to 1.5 weeks, so a 2 week break should be fine.0

Yup, at this point your fitness is in the bag. Rest it.
If the pain is really bad even at rest, it might not be a terrible idea to see a doctor or physical therapist. You don't want to mess around with (run on) a lot of things that can go wrong with your hips. And if it's just a muscle imbalance or inflexibility issue, the PT can show you how to stretch and strengthen it so you can run again!0
