i have been on this fitness/weight loss journey since November. So far in my journey i have lost all of my weight through changing my diet and eatly healthier. i did try working out once .... i tried doing a jullian micheals video (30 minutes long) - i lasted 7minutes and my legs killed for the next three days. so im aware i REALLY need to work on my endurence and strength (which i seem to have little of) but i have now decided that it's about time i start hitting the gym.
i want to gain muscles by working on strength and weight weightloss. my goal is to get fit not just lose weight. i want what i am going to be left with to look good too!
the thing is though, i am a completely gym/workout virgin. outside of PE (sports) in school, which i loathed, i never exercise. ever. i am really unfit to be totally honest.
was wondering what exactly i could do at the gym once i start?
and in the mean time could i do at home right now?
i shall hopefully start mid june, once my exams are over with. Before then my goal is to get down 2/3kg through, diet, walking and home exercises - here goes everything!
i still have 44 pounds left to lose. My plan is to have lost it all my next time this year. that shouldn't be too difficult. I've already lost 33 in 7 months.
thank you in advance for you help.

Try somthing like these that can be done at home to build confidance and get an understanding of what you CAN do not what you can. As for the gym most gyms offer an induction to help show you around/offer advice. Best of luck to you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cemeG7dHSRk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS74vDRTX7I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC_UG8yVGOw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMwGBr82XW80

Find a lifting program. There are many out there, like Stronglifts 5x5 and New Rules of Lifting for Women. I use an app called Jefit Pro that has hundreds of routines packed with pictures and videos to assist with proper form and it has a rest timer.
If you want to start at home with resistance training, try You Are Your Own Gym, an app with a body weight program.
You don't have to do cardio to lose weight, as strength training will build your endurance and help you shed weight.
But, if you did want to delve into cardio for general health, you can do anything. If you want to learn to run, try the Couch To 5K (C25K) program to help you work up to it slowly. They have ellipticals, bikes and some have cross trainers and step machines.
If machine cardio is too boring or not challenging enough, try finding High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) routines. There are good ones in the Nike Women Training app.
Pinterest and YouTube programs (like Fitness Blender) is also full of home routines. There are DVD programs out there for cheap, too.
You can do it. There's plenty of people out there that have been where you are. Nobody at the gym is worried about anyone else. You do you and they'll do them.0 -
