Help? Not sure I am getting all out of the tracker

Hi all, my appologies if this is in the wrong area, but I am new to using myfitnesspal with a fitbit tracker. It says under the Apps tab that it is connected, ..but why then am I still having to input my exercise and such onto the myfitnesspal website? Shouldn't it import all that info in automaticly when it syncs? I feel like I am missing something somewhere.. I use an iphone 5c..have the fitbit charge. I have already reset the device, and can see that yes it does sync..but still there seems to be a problem. Help please?

You should be seeing that your calories burned is showing up on MFP. Specific exercises may still need to be entered (like stationary bike, or weight lifting)...but otherwise the calorie burn should be showing up. of course, it will only show up once you have burned OVER the amount you are expected to burn for the day.

I do find that sometimes there is a "delay" in my burn showing up - but eventually it gets there. Good luck, hope that helps.

The fitbit user group should be able to help you:

Your Fitbit burn is your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), the number of calories necessary to maintain your current weight. If you eat at a reasonable deficit from that, you will lose weight.

    Connect your accounts at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/fitbit

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Set your goal to .5 lb. per week for every 25 lbs. you're overweight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided

No need to log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit (that's what I do) or in MFP. Exercise logged in MFP overwrites your step burn during that time. Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal & follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments.

Edited to add that Fitbit exercise doesn't appear in your MFP newsfeed. Post it as a status update.
